Giu Yukari Murakami

Is a Japanese Amazonian author of speculative fiction. As the daughter of Japanese immigrants, her narratives use the identity aspects of her life as someone who lives in Northern Brazil, of yellow representation and of the effects of diasporic immigration in her work. She won Fox-Empíreo literary award (2017) and Uirapuru (2021) with the stories “Guardiões do Império” and “A Aprendiz de Erveira”, respectively. In 2021, she published short stories in the magazines Suprassuma, Ignoto, and the bilingual Brazilian magazine Eita!, among others. She was a student at the first Oficina de Sai-Fai Brasileiro workshop, at Museum do Amanhã, She is an assistant-editor at Égua Literária’’, a Northist magazine of speculative fiction. She teacher creative writing voluntarily at Associação Nipo-Amazônica.
